One of our faves, the King Sago Palm is not actually a palm, but are instead cycads, which are a plam like evergreen that predates the dinosaurs.  Their shiny palm-like spiny tips grow from a central shaggy trunk and are slow growers.  The King Sago requires very little maintenance and prefers bright indirect light.
